The England international told football authorities to make sure that any team whose fans are caught in racist abuse should be give a 9-point deduction.

Sterling went on to call for teams to be forced to play behind closed doors for three matches if racist incidents occurred.

His reasoning is that currently the fines do not affect bigger teams whereas his solution would see sponsors affected and drive real change.

“I am signing this manifesto calling for more black, Asian and minority ethnic people to run the game, harsher punishments for racist fans and players, a stronger stance from social media and media and sponsors to take action.

“But I would like to go further because I have specific ideas about what should be put in place to fight this problem.

“The manifesto rightly states that there should be more BAME people in positions of power at clubs and governing bodies. I would say, though, that the aim should be for that number to be the same percentage as players on the pitch.

“Punishments need to be harsher and money just doesn’t hurt the rich clubs or football associations. So I would call for an automatic nine-point deduction for racist abuse,” Sterling explained according to UK Sun.
